The Virnig V40 Skeleton Rock Bucket (SSL) (CTL) is a purpose-built skid-steer attachment designed for tough rock digging, brush clearing, and back-dragging. Built on the original Skeleton Rock Bucket philosophy, it combines rigid one-piece tines with smart design for visibility and rock retention on demanding sites.

- Tine Construction: Each tine is forged from 3/8" Grade 50 steel, with a true one-piece design from tip to top brace for added rigidity
- Open Design for Visibility: Open bottom and back, plus 3" tine spacing, to keep sight lines clear and let dirt fall away as you work
- Rock Dam and Notch: Raised ridge in the center of each tine (rock dam) and a notch near tips to secure rocks during digging
- Gusseted Tine Tips: Fully gusseted tips strengthen tines and help prevent bending under heavy use
- Material and Strength: Made from Grade 50 plate with a minimum yield strength of 50,000 PSI for durable performance
- Dimensions and Configuration: Width options — 67.6" (BSRV66), 74.3" (BSRV72), 87.5" (BSRV84); Overall height 20.5" and depth 39.9"
- Tine Count and Spacing: 21 tines (with sides) on the narrow model, 23 on the mid, 27 on the wide; 2.9" spacing between tines
- Weight: Approximate weight 520 lb (BSRV66), 560 lb (BSRV72), 640 lb (BSRV84)
- Applications: Digging roots through thick brush, clearing overgrown fence lines, and efficient back-dragging
- Model Variants: BSRV66, BSRV72, BSRV84 correspond to the three width options for versatile machine compatibility
- Shipping: In-stock items typically ship in 3–5 days; non-stock items typically ship in 4–6 weeks
In practice, this skeleton rock bucket shines where visibility matters and rock retention is critical. The open design gives you a clear view of the digging zone, while the robust 3/8" Grade 50 tines and reinforced tips stand up to rocky terrain, roots, and dense brush. The raised rock dam helps keep larger stones in place during excavation, reducing spillage and speeding up jobs like site cleanup, road edges, and trench work. If you’re outfitting a skid steer for regular rock removal, soil screening, or clearing brush along fence lines, the V40 delivers reliable performance with specific attention to durability and operator visibility.
